1. A high CADR alone is not enough. A good air purifier should perform well in both CADR and CCM.2. For gaseous pollutants such as formaldehyde, benzene, and VOCs, choose an activated-carbon filter or a decomposition-type filter based on catalytic oxidation. A heavier activated-carbon filter generally contains more adsorbent and may provide better purification.
3. For inhalable particles such as PM2.5, choose a high-grade HEPA filter, preferably H12 or above, with a larger unfolded surface area and substantial filter-media weight.
4. In terms of filter arrangement, a common preference is: tower structure > cylindrical structure > dual-side air-intake structure > box structure.
5. After purchase, listen to the unit at its lowest setting. If the noise is unacceptable or disrupts sleep, return it promptly.
6. Avoid carbon-cloth composite filters. Even when their CADR is high, sour odors from the filter can be a significant drawback.
