Some people prioritize airflow when choosing a fresh-air system, assuming that more is always better and that a unit rated at 300 must outperform one rated at 200.Fresh-air volume should be selected appropriately for the floor area and number of occupants; it should be neither excessive nor insufficient. For a 60-square-meter office, for example, a fresh-air system delivering 500 m3/h would be far too large. It would waste electricity and filters, and its excessive noise would discourage anyone from using the highest setting.
It is even more important not to oversize a wall-mounted fresh-air unit. No matter how large its airflow is, this type of unit can ventilate only one room. Excessive airflow also makes the unit physically larger, causes the filter to become dirty quickly, and makes it impossible to heat the large volume of cold outdoor air brought in during winter.
