A single wall-mounted fresh-air unit can ventilate and purify only one room; it cannot ventilate the whole home, even if its airflow is very large. This follows from the way wall-mounted fresh-air units work. When the unit forces supply air into a room, it creates positive pressure, naturally pushing the existing indoor air toward negative-pressure areas such as the kitchen and bathroom.
If a high-airflow wall-mounted unit is installed in the living room, the fresh air will not flow into the bedrooms because they have no exhaust outlets and are not negative-pressure zones. Likewise, it is incorrect to expect a unit installed in one bedroom to ventilate another bedroom.
To achieve whole-home purification with wall-mounted fresh-air units, one unit must be installed in every room. This arrangement also makes it possible to control the fresh-air volume and supply-air temperature in each room independently.
