1. Do not increase the filter efficiency grade. This is not merely a matter of cost: the structure and fan of a CR Box mean that it can use only a low-efficiency filter. Using a higher grade will cause airflow to fall sharply, eliminating the advantage of high airflow. An air purifier recirculates indoor air, so slightly lower filter efficiency is not a major problem; if one pass is insufficient, the air can be filtered a second time. If you want higher efficiency, you will need to use a different structure.2. Whenever possible, buy a fan with a metal impeller, because a metal-impeller fan can provide greater static pressure.
3. Whenever possible, buy a fan with more blades, such as a six-blade model. This type of fan can deliver more airflow while producing less noise.
4. You can purchase filters measuring 492 x 595 x 46 or 595 x 595 x 46. Both are standard industrial-filter sizes, so they are less expensive and easier to obtain. A cardboard frame is sufficient; there is no need to waste money on an aluminum frame. After all, the spirit of DIY is to avoid spending a cent unnecessarily, isn't it?
5. There is no need to purchase a separate speed controller. Simply use the fan's available speed settings, because an adjustable external speed controller will generally cause the motor to produce electromagnetic noise.
